DTXpress apps

DTXpress apps

2000-10-04 by Giles Hearn

Since writing "DTXchange", I've used it regularly to
backup and restore user-kits.
Now I'm bored again - so I've decided to write a prog
that plays WAV files when receiving MIDI triggers from
the DTXpress. I'll use DirectX so it'll play up to 8
voices simultaneously. This way I can expand upon the
DTXpress voices in a limitless way.

Unfortunately, I'll need to carry a laptop around with
the kit - but hey, it's nearly 2001.

If anyone's interested in a system like this, let me
know. So far I've only sorted the DirectX bit - the
interface and features have yet to be designed...

Hey, I'm interested,

Now if you could add a record feature and make the system fully duplex so
you could play back one channel as you record another (kind of a mixer
affair) too, then I'd be a very happy little guy.

I'd love to but my little prog is only designed to
expand the user kits of the DTXpress by using a laptop
to "load" them in. The idea is that one user kit on
the DTXpress (pads all set to NoAssign) is used to
trigger the sounds on the PC.
You're talking about Cakewalk or Cubase! I'm nowhere
near good enough to start down that path. If I add
recording features, then I'll need an Undo, Punch
In/Out etc. There'd also be latency problems etc.

Of course, if you want to assist....
;)

Giles

i already like your DTXchange and use it often, so i'm interested in
your new project. Since your mail was sent in october, i was
wondering how far you have progressed by now?

keep on drumming!

Rene
