Dual Zone Pads

Dual Zone Pads

1999-12-04 by vcrmac@xxxxxxxxx.xxx

Hi Andy,
As far as I can tell, the DTXpress is set up to handle dual-zone
pads with no problem, in all inputs. A stereo cord and the right
pad should do the trick. All of the pre-set kits are programmed
this way already. We don't get this benefit as our pads are mono
(unfortunately). They should have done the snare as dual-zone and
charged a bit more.

Maybe we misunderstood your message or you mine?

Rick

Yes DTXpress is set up to take dual zone trigger pads.
But it won't take just any dual zone pad!
That's because the rim trigger sensor in the brain relies on the trigger signal comming from
a completely different piece of electronics to the main pad signal.
Where the main pad signal comes from an on off piezo,
the rim comes from a voltage sensative condensor system.
For this reason it is no use buying a dual zone pad which has a piezo trigger for main pad
and a piezo trigger fro rim, it just won't trigger the DTXpress rim sensors.

Sorry if my earlier posts were a bit vague, hope this clarifies things.
I just want to help anyone out there avoid disapointments when they find their new
Pintech concert cast pads don't work the way they expected - not that I know pintech products won't work.
Just check with the manufacturer before you buy.
