More info on the DtxpressIII

I emailed Yamaha asking for a copy of the New DtxpressIII manual and
Jim Haler passed on my request to the Chief of the Design Team in
Japan, who was gracious enough to put a copy of the PDF formatted
manual at:

http://www2.yamaha.co.jp/manual/english/index

One interesting note, they have a setting for the 3-zone snare to be
setup for a left and a right handed drummer.

I also asked questions on several other issues:

-The choking is available on zones 1-8 and not on 9/10. But if you
enter RHH130 as the trigger type for zone 8, the choking is
disabled. (Nice touch, Yamaha.)

-The PCY150 is fully compatiable with the DtxpressII on zones 2,6,7.

-The PCY130S and PCY130 are fully compatible with the Dtxpress I &
II. Just use PCY65S for the PCY130S and the PCY65 for the PCY130.

-The RHH130 will work on the Dtxpress II but with some "parameter
changes".

-There are no current plans to provide an upgrade chip for the
DtxpressII to add the additional features.

-There are several new preset kits in the dtxpressIII.

-There are a lot of new cymbal/hihat/pads sounds.

-There trigger types setup has changed quite a bit.

Ed,

Thank you kindly for including us on your rounds this morning. Will
you be adding the "plus" versions with kick pedal and stool?

Hmm. I'd guess not. Ed already does a set of "accessory packs" with
throne, pedals and other goodies.

Stewart,

Am I given to understand that you're springing for the IIISP? Will
you be first on the block? Happy New Year.

Ah. Sadly, no. The coffers are depleted. I shall just have to raise
taxes on the villagers around Sherwood, again. Either that or move
in with Loxley and start stealing from the rich to give to ... well,
Yamaha, really.

New (well, second hand) Trace Elliot bass amps, Shure mics and such
like have diminished the reserves, and we are coming into "we've
been here [n] years and you haven't redecorated yet" season. This
year n=7, so I think this one's serious.

Perhaps if I finish D&D this week, the Yamaha gods might look
favourably upon me.

Anyway. It's been 2004 here for nearly two hours now. It doesn't
look much different from where I'm sitting, but I'll keep you
posted. All the best to one and all.

Stewart,

I have downloaded all the posts 0000-7509 for safe keeping. One of
my coming years project is to go back through and see what else can
be added to D&D. What have you had a chance to do on D&D since your
last installment??

My understanding from the literature is that the SPECIAL actually
includes them. When we get the more detailed listing from Yamaha, I
will add whatever variants they offer as well as listings for the
components for those that want to upgrade/expand kits they already
have.

It's sure nice to see new e-drum stuff from Yamaha again. :-)
