I do. Don't worry your not alone, the mk 1 is still a useable unit.

I might well be upgrading my cymbals next, I'm playing with the idea of
getting Pintech's ZB1, and a ZB2.
Some of our regular contributors rate them highly.
I was planning to put my PCY 80S in the ride position, you've got me worried
now.
My kit didn't even come with a PCY 80S, both cymbal pads where the mono
type.

Well I too thought that, that was until just before Christmas when I
received a mail-out from Thomann, who are biased in Germany, but ship to the
UK.
On the front page they had a E-drum set which had a rack, 4 drum pads, kick
pad (all with real heads), 3 cymbal pads (which looked like the Yamaha
wedges), all the pedals, cables, and all with a Alesis DM-5 drum module. The
price? How about 485. Thud = the sound of my jaw hitting the floor.

I got online straight away, and discovered that the package was also
available without the DM-5, the price? 283 !
If anyone is interested here's a link to the main site:

Worth a look, as there doing some great deals especially the Roland + Yamaha
EXTreme set-ups.

I was seriously tempted to order one there and then, but I didn't. Why?
Well I wasn't sure if it was compatible for starters, and the fact I didn't
have that amount of cash lying around didn't help. Still, I kept considering
it.

Reading thought the rest of the mail-out proved to be a blessing, as in the
drum section was listed a Yamaha RHP-120SD 12" snare pad, the real head one
as used by the DXTreme. At a price of 80 I went for it. I added a snare
stand at 28 (double braced + memory lock), and finally to round things off,
a drum rack for 78.

It all arrived before Christmas, and have spent some of the holiday period
chopping and changing things around.
I've now got a rock solid stable rack, and I've used the Yamaha rack to add
on to it, making my own little monster rack.
I try and post some pictures, once I work out how to use the digital camera.
The cheap and cheerful rack came with memory locks, 2 cymbal boom arms which
fit inside the upright tubes, a curved main bar (Gibraltar like), and 2 tom
holders. Oh and a allen key for the memory lock. For it's price it's very
good, much more stable than the original Yamaha rack.

So just goes to show what a ol' DTXpress mk.1 can do with a little deal here
and there.

So once, I've got the Zymbal's, what next DTXpress III module, or perhaps a
Roland module, hummm
