new songs and problems

2001-01-10 by vivien.emiya@free.fr

Hi everybody!
Are there any great sites to download new songs?
I have a problem with the kick: when i play the bass drum, the beater
head often bouces on the kick pad and then there are two strokes
played instead of one(like a flam beat). It is very boring sometimes.
I tried to change parameters but i did not succeed. Do you have the
same problem?(Maybe the beater head of my pedal is too strong.)
www.welcome.to/DTXpressions is very slow, isn t it?(and the frames
are not very usefull(too big!!)).
Thanks for your help.
PS: sorry for my criticism and my bad English.

Try adjusting the rejection settings for the kick pad. The instructions are on page 13 of the reference guide supplied with ur DTXpress. Rejection settings compensate for double triggers. It might also b that it is simply ur pedals tension or ur playing style. Usually, if u adjust the tension in the pedal or maybe the position of the pedal/pad this should correct it. This is 1 of the great things about this kit...u can move the kick pedal anywhere u like to suit ur style and position. If ur beater is wooden, change it 4 a felt one instead as these type of beaters absorb more of the impact.

If u want 2 download MIDI songs, try subscribing to a newsgroup like alt.binaries.midi where u can download hundreds of songs. These will all b GM songs and usually compressed in2 one sequencer track which is ideal 4 the DTXpress's 2 track sequencer. If u have a sequencer like Cubase, u can explode these in2 their component tracks so u can edit them, then mix them down in2 1 track again 4 downloading in2 ur DTXpress.

I have had no problems accessing the DTXpressions site at all. It downloads as quick as any other site and the frames work fine. Don't know what 2 suggest here....maybe u need 2 update ur browser or O/S or ur Modem/ISP.

Hope this helps,

Lovesign.

Re: new songs and problems

I had the same problem with my kick pedal registering double hits. I
determined that the kick tower and settings were fine but that the
beater was rebounding and causing the double hits. The solutions I
used were as follows:

1. Instead of playing flatfooted (heal down), I switched to heal up
(toe down) and had a much easier time controlling the rebound of the
beater. This way it's easier to drive the beater to the kick tower
trigger with more force.

2. I bought a better pedal. I had been using an entry-level Yamaha
and switched to a Pearl PowerShifter Eliminator which is extremely
stable and very adjustable to suit different playing styles, etc.

Hope this helps.

Good suggestions Bill...just goes 2 show that u do need to modify ur playing style with an electronic kit. I use a Premier 2000 series which is inexpensive and responsive and plays well with the DTXpress's kick pad. Best thing 2 do is experiment....take ur kick pad down to the music store and try some out.
