Yamaha DTXpress/DTXplorer/DTXtreme

Hi All, 

I am a new member and this is my first posting.I would like to ask 
any one if they have successfully hooked up a DTXpress module to 
trigger drum samples stored elsewhere. I understand that you can 
have software programs with sampled drum sounds which you can 
trigger via the DTXpress pads. (I think MIDI is used to achieve 
this) If this can be done, please could you explain how and what I 
need to get this working.  I am a novice with this and any help will 
be gladly received.
