The PCY65S pad has a rim switch that can be configured to give a choke effect. This does work on trigger input 7 (Crash 1). Would I be able to run a second PCY65S with the same choke feature on one of the other trigger inputs? How would I have to adjust the (trigger/voice) parameter settings then? Regards -Bongo-

Yes, you can run a second PCY65S into the ride input, as it is the same type of input as the crash input. Input 9 of 9/10 also has a ride sound configured to it, so you can hook your ride up into input 9/10. This is exactly what I am doing soon. -Zack

Zack, as far as I understood the Ride input (#6) is a stereo input and therefore should be able to manage the PCY65S signal. The question was how to do the settings in order to achieve the choke effect. -Bongo- --- In DTXpress@yahoogroups.com, "supernovanexus" <supernovanexus@y...> wrote:

By the way, input #2 is also chokeable. Stewart

This is exactly what I am doing soon. Can I just clear something up, because your note suggests you may have a slight misunderstanding (apologies in advance if I read something into your note that isn't there). You can pretty much plug any pad into any input from 1 through 10 on the DTXpress. They all work the same way. The only reason (and it's not a bad one) for choosing the inputs as marked/shipped is so that the pre-set kits make sense and so that you have cymbals on the inputs that can be choked. Those are the only "compatibility" issues that exist. Electrically, they are all nearly identical - 1 through 8 stereo (including the kick) and 9/10 twin mono. You don't actually have to choose an input that Yamaha says is for that kind of pad, nor one that they ship with a specific sound on it. Stewart

I changed the pad type and tried it out with trigger inputs #2 and #6. Works fine. Thanks for that. However here´s another one for you: I just configured a new kit. The tom sounds are all the same source (T/008) and only differ by their tune. To be quick with the settings I used the "copy to" feature in the Voice Edit section. Having done that it now isn´t possible anymore to change some of the parameters of the "replicated" pads (e.g. the tune). A message shows up saying "# in use". Is there any possibility to revise that? Regards -Bongo- --- In DTXpress@yahoogroups.com, "moosetication" <moosetication@y...> wrote:

Oh my fault Bongo. Set the module to see the cymbal as a PCY65S...either 1 or 2, not sure, its probably been stated already in a previous post. That will tell the module that there is a switch on the cymbal for choke capabilities. -Zack

Change the Midi note #, for each trigger to operate seperately, should have a unique midi note number. >From: "bongokonzelmann" <carsten@...> >Reply-To: DTXpress@yahoogroups.com >To: DTXpress@yahoogroups.com >Subject: [DTXpress] Re: PCY65S - choke effect >Date: Sun, 11 Apr 2004 17:45:40 -0000 > >I changed the pad type and tried it out with trigger inputs #2 and #6. >Works fine. ... help a dummie, or just to accelerate the exercise: Where can I change the mide note number (Trigger Edit Section I presume) and are there any restrictions what mide note number to take? Change it from Voice section (Press on Voice button), and go to Note #. I don't think there would be any restriction for this number. >From: "bongokonzelmann" <carsten@...> >Reply-To: DTXpress@yahoogroups.com >To: DTXpress@yahoogroups.com >Subject: [DTXpress] Re: PCY65S - choke effect >Date: Sun, 11 Apr 2004 17:54:57 -0000 > >... help a dummie, or just to accelerate the exercise: Where can I >change the mide note number (Trigger Edit Section I presume) and are >there any restrictions what mide note number to take? > >Reggards -Bongo- > > > >--- In DTXpress@yahoogroups.com, "Abdulmalek Hamsho" <aa_mm_hh@h...> >wrote: > > Change the Midi note #, for each trigger to operate seperately, >should have > > a unique midi note number. > > > > > > >From: "bongokonzelmann" <carsten@h...> > > >Reply-To: DTXpress@yahoogroups.com > > >To: DTXpress@yahoogroups.com > > >Subject: [DTXpress] Re: PCY65S - choke effect > > >Date: Sun, 11 Apr 2004 17:45:40 -0000 > > > > > >I changed the pad type and tried it out with trigger inputs #2 and #6. > > >Works fine. Perfect, that was it. I just had a look into the midi note assignments of some of the preset kits. There doesn´t seem to exist any rule. For instance tom 1/2/3 pads are not assigned to numbers following each other in ascending order. -Bongo- --- In DTXpress@yahoogroups.com, "Abdulmalek Hamsho" <aa_mm_hh@h...> wrote: > Change it from Voice section (Press on Voice button), and go to Note #. On the Dtxpress I module inputs 1 through 8 could provide choking with a stereo cymbal pad. On the Dtxpress II module inputs 2, 6 and 7 are the only ones capable of providing choking for the stereo cymbal pads. On the Dtxpress II module with the update ROM chip inputs 1 through 8 could be choking for the stereo cymbal pads. On the Dtxpress III module all inputs 1 through 8 are chokable with stereo cymbal pads, except if pad type RHH130 is assigned to input 8, then choking is disabled. OGD
