This message can happen if the battery is low or the backup RAM has
been damaged. The manual recommends contacting your local Yamaha
dealer.

If it is the battery, it is easily replaced. If you look at the
photos in the gallery here, you will see that it is a simple button
style battery. Just remove two screws on each side of the module, one
one on the back, remove the cover and the battery is easily
accessible. The battery is available at Radio shack or most stores
that carry button style batteries.

If it is a true memory issue and it is out of warranty, they is not
much inside the module that can be just "swapped" out, again you can
see this in the photos.

Was just wondering if anyone had done this, if it costs more than the
module, than I will just get a new mod. It doesn't specify that info
in the manual, thats why I checked here first.

If it were me I would have the lid off in a shot and a CR2450 in my
hand. I cannot see why it cannot be changed by the user, other than
Yamaha don't want you to take the lid off. However, do so at your own
risk - I haven't done it yet because mine is only 6 weeks old!

Keith.

I have a KX 250, what do I do, put it under the rear tire and pop the
clutch?
Rob

I guess if they would send it I could put it in. I don't even wanna
think about how much it will cost.

I don't know, I have a K1200RS (hence the member name). I also had a
KR1S before that. I will have to stop buying bikes with my initials
in the model number.

If you don't know what a CR2450 is, it is probably best to leave the
lid on and send it back to Yamaha:)

Keith.

Why don't I just send it to you.... you have one.
