Clicks when midi messages are sent

Clicks when midi messages are sent

2001-03-18 by tom_snoot@yahoo.com.au

Hi;
I have just started using my DTXpress as a sound module connected to
my PC via an Emagic AMT8 interface. Whenever any midi message is sent
to the brain, there is a click in the audio outputs. This click is
there even when the unit is off, so I doubt its the settings. I have
changed cables, midi ports, controllers, drivers for the AMT8. I have
gone thru Logic Audio and not, but the click is still there. It only
happens to the DTXpress, not any of the other devices attached to the
AMT8.
Anybody else had this problem? any help, much appreciated!
cheers

I've had that problem twice in the past 6 months. I believe its due to corrupted patch memory. Save your patches if you can, reinitialize your machine (the DTXp brain) and reload the patches. That has worked for me. There are reinitialization instructions in the manual.

Re: [DTXpress] Clicks when midi messages are sent

I have heard a recommendation of a reset on this problem. However, that did
not work for me.

I had a ground loop through my amp similar to something I've experienced
with home theater subwoofers. When I attached my amp with a three to two
prong plug adapter (isolating the ground lead), my clicking cleared up. I
wouldn't have even known to check, except when my Amp was disconnected, I
couldn't hear it through the headphones, so I began to check other
equipment, and that was the solution that worked for me.
