losing MIDI voice settings

losing MIDI voice settings

2004-07-03 by gwork2000

There was a suggestion that this had been discussed previously for a
dtxpress II, but I'm afraid I haven't found it in the archives.

The issue is that while I can save voice settings to a user kit, the
MIDI voice settings for pads revert to some default GM voices rather
than being saved as the native dtxpress voices are. The MIDI
assignments look correct when scrolling through the pads settings,
but they aren't correct when triggered. The voices correct
themselves when the PC setting is altered (by as much as one value)
and then immediately set back to the correct value.

I've tried various "shot-in-the-dark" solutions, because I don't know
better, including putting multiple pads with the same MIDI voice on
different channels, copying MIDI voices to specific pads, etc. But I
haven't found the solution to guarantee that when I leaved a saved
drum kit that had MIDI voices defined for pads, that the same voices
would sound when I returned to that kit definition.

Ideas?

Well - the problem has disappeared, but for the life of me, I don't
know why. I openned the box to check on the battery, reseated it,
played with some settings in the Song edit function, and that's about
it.

The midi voices have stayed just fine through the 30 kits I've had to
define.
