Problem with loud guitar amp interference with pad response on DTXtremeIIS

Problem with loud guitar amp interference with pad response on DTXtremeIIS

2004-07-03 by Jonathon A. Warnberg

Hi everyone,

New to the e-drum world and to this board. I had some questions about
my new Yamaha DTXtremeIIS kit.

I play in a band with guitarists who use really loud tube amps
(vox/orange 2x12s). Last night we attempted live use of my new Yamaha
DTXtremeIIS.

I'm playing through a PA in a fairly small basement room. The problem
I'm having is that the volume of the amps are actually impeding the
signal for the pads somehow (they seem to resonate through my tom
pads the most - i discovered this by process of elimination) and
sends a crappy sizzling signal through the PA. Also, when I play, I
can tell that the signal and response of the kit starts to cut out.

Any recommendations? Unfortunately, turning down the guitarists is
not an option.

Thanks.

I also own the great DTXTreme-2. I have my JBL set on stun, and my
snare cuts out every second bar more or less. Cannot replicate the
problem with headphones. No problems with toms or kick drum.
Contacted Yamaha and they said to check patch cord, and pad. Since
it works flawlessly through headphones, must be the module output to
speaker, or JBL, or some weird thing between the pad speaker
perhaps? Some suggest some type of pizeo feedback between speaker
and amp. Anyone else having this type of problem. Sure places a damp
towel on what is a module with awsome sounds and features. I have
the reject and self reject settings as low as possable. Do not have
cross triggering issues.
