Re: [DW8000] Korg DSS-1 disks images

2006-04-04 by Stefan Rinass

Hello,

the DSS-1 uses 800K Disks, not 720k. The PC drive electronics itself is
-able- to read/write them. CopyQM -also- writes the Disks under 95/98/ME
into 800K format, but XP doesnt allow a "direct hardware access" onto
the drive, so CopyQM wont work. I have modified Glen Stegners
DSS1-Disk-Images into "non-CoypQM"-800K-Images, because no other program
than copyqm is able to write copyqm-images (there is a prog outside
which can do that, but it also wont work on 2000/XP). A direct 1:1 copy
from copyqm-image=>FDD is -impossible-, cause the copyqm-images have a
special header inside, which would be also written on the DSS-1 disk and
which the DSS would not understand.

So the only thing youll need is a Linux machine or at least a Linux
LiveCD and my modified images. Then Ill give you the instructions how
to write them.

Greetings

Stef
