Volume too loud issue - problem with Chorus board?

Volume too loud issue - problem with Chorus board?

2012-12-02 by 7yash

Hi,

My resurrected DW-8000 started having an odd problem in that its volume is way too loud. I also thought that there was some delay between pressing a key and the sound occurring.

More recently, I noticed that if I edited a patch to remove the effect completely, then I could listen to the patch at normal volumes.

Thus, it seems the Chorus board is outputting at too high a volume.

I want to fix this myself. Any pointers as to which components I should look at?

Thanks,

Yash

Meant the effect board, which is more of a delay board actually.

Any ideas?

I'm afraid you'll need to dive into the service manual. It is available on the net. Hope this helps.

Solved it: the reason the digital effects were not being heard through the separate outs is that the mono analog signal is made into a pseudo-stereo with the digital effects board, but exactly out-of-phase, hence if there's mono anywhere in the audio path, the effects cancel out...

The DW-8000 is working perfectly.
