That of course is an entirely speculative comment of yours and you will have
to wait and see will you not?

It takes no imagination at all to realise that non of the big camera boys
i.e. those who make and sell complete camera systems, wish to see an open
system because in that way they will in effect lose the one certainty that
exists in their rather narrow and highly predjudiced view of the
photographiuc world, which in simple language spells brand market
domination - or the wish to achieve such a condition.

In truth the current situation re the camera manufacturers rather reminds me
of the same situation that existed in the electronic pre-press industry
somtime between the years 1968-1990+ where more or less three manufacturers
dominated the supply market for electronic scanning and image manipulation.

By sticking to propriortorial systems and using their own file formats they
ensured that once a client had 'hooked in' to their product, client loyalty
was almost guaranteed.

History has demonstrated that, that approach cannot exist for ever because
eventually other organisations - usually small, flexiable, and cheap get
into what in effect became a closed market sector dominated by just a few
brands and blew the whole industry structure apart.

That mon petites is what I am hoping to see happen to the camera producers
market before I shuffle off this mortal coil.
The idea that one might obtain a particular Nikon or Canon or any other body
(digital natch) and be able to use any manufacturers lens with same should
be the required norm rather than a dream.

I say watch this space - well some space or other - and await events.
