It certainly is possible to make a lousy lense with a wide > aperture though ;-) I wasn't directly making a resolution point...however...noise in the image will decrease effective resolution (not the actual resolution on the sensor...but rather your ability to use and enlarge the image)...thus using a faster lens...if it results in being able to use a lower ASA might increase resolution. Of course this is not the case when you talking about optimal lighting conditions, where I agree, the better lens won't help with resolution. Robert
