Re: [Digital BW] Epson 1280 Woes...

Maybe pitching it may be the easiest way out for you.. I will say however that maybe the printer just needs a really good cleaning.. If the printer was used primarily on WC type materials then it has the possibility of being loaded with debris from that adventure.. The dribbling etc you describe could be from that.. The previous owner maybe didn't maintain it as well as most do as they moved on.. I'm not that familiar with the 1280 as I use the large format machines but your issues sound typical.. If you have some simple green wet a paper towel with it and feed it under the print head.. gently slide it back and forth a few times ...you may be able to folds it over.. Let it set on the soaked paper towel for several hours.. Then just do a clean up with another using distilled water.. Give it another go.. As I said I'm not familiar with that printerat all .. I'm used to capping station s etc.. so maybe someone else can shed some light there.. Anyway, it wouldn't hurt to try it .. If it's still the same .. fire up the chain saw...:-)

Thanks for the advice. I was leaving out the piece where the expert told me
throw it away and not even sell it for parts.

I trusted this published water color artist that it was working fine before
  buying.

I have worked with several 1280's in the years past.

poor thing out of it's misery and move on to a printer that works correctly.
If you purchase used...try to test the machine first.
