In general, I like Canson and the Harman sold by Hahnemuhle gets excellent reviews. > I did have to deal with the pizza wheel problem. Those appear to be yet another pigment ink artifact. What is "best" for one person or one use, may not be so good for another. What I like for the fine art and museum work is 100% carbon -- Eboni for matte and MIS glossy carbons for "sepia" toned glossy. It's the cheapest and produces images with the best stability. For glossy work that is not expected to have to last for long periods, I think the dyes are in a league of their own. I use a custom Noritsu (Epson) single-midtone approach for my cards and brochures now. (See http://www.paulroark.com/BW-Info/WF30-BW-Dye.pdf ) > Would that be the HP inks? For matte I use and recommend most highly MIS Eboni-6. For glossy "sepia" I use and recommend MIS K4 PK, LK, and LLK. The top end is 100% carbon. For neutral glossy printing, I think highly of the HP Z3100/3200 PK blended pigment. As OEM solutions, the Epson, HP, and Canon pigments are all quite good. For those who want relatively neutral glossy and quite stable display prints, the OEM solutions are fine. (But none can match 100% carbon for stability or dedicated B&W inksets for ultimate smoothness.) But, I prefer dyes for my glossy work. I briefly tried some HP dyes (for the 8300?) that have tested well at Aardenburg-Imaging (http://www.aardenburg-imaging.com/), but they were not compatible with the other inks that I use. So, I quickly discontinued that approach. From what I saw, they could probably be as good as the Noritsu-Epson (Claria family) inks I've been using. Paul www.PaulRoark.com
