Re: C88+ with Noritsu-Epson dyes

2011-08-26 by Paul

I updated this PDF (http://www.paulroark.com/BW-Info/C88-BW-Dye.pdf) and made ICCs for the Red River Metallic and Premium Matte (high dmax, not excessively green) papers.

The ICCs use what I call "sequential" Photoshop curves in the ICCs. These start the 3 LK inks sequentially for a smoother highlight area, but they never have negative slope. As such, the only cross-over is at the black where it is taken care of by the Epson driver. I've found this form of curve to give the best combination of smoothness and ease. All it takes to port from one paper to the next is to change the ink limit point on the curve. They also work for soft proofing.

This is a very easy, low maintenance approach, (aside from the ink mixing if you're not into that, but it's a piece of cake for any ex-darkroom worker.)
