I want to thank you all of you so much for the informative and quick response. Some thoughts.. I quited darkroom 3 years ago because of 2 two serious reasons: 1. the fast and progressive lack of fine photographic products (papers and chemicals) from the market in Athens and 2. the continuous back pain due to 4-5 hours standing between the wet and dry side of my darkroom. I never leaved the idea to take photos even with the absense of the camera via my mind and my glance. Now it seems that I'm starting the photo gear from backwards setting my printing gear first.. then I have time to buy a serious digital camera than I currently have. Although the inks of the r2400 seems to cost more than the Agfa's 118 or the Kentmere matte plus the chemicals...pheww. Its not time to spend money for hobbies here in Greece nowdays so I hope that I will overcome the difficulties of this new -to -me printing way with your precious help and reading . regards Dimitris ps1. (Paul I already read your articles and tried the qtr software) ps2. (I finally printed an acceptable photo with the r2400) ________________________________ Απο: Paul <roark.paul@gmail.com> Προς: DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com Στάλθηκε: 8:16 μ.μ. Let me add, relating to the 2400 and other Epson k3 printers, that my current K3 approach is outlined at http://www.paulroark.com/BW-Info/4000-6K-Plus.pdf The 4000 is my current platform, the the QTR profiles easily port to any K3 setup using MIS carbons. The standard MIS LLK, LK, Pk, and Mk (the 100% carbon core pigments) are part of my 4000 setup. They are a sub-set of the larger core I use. Turning off the extra inks and re-linearizing are all that are needed to port the profiles to any k3 running MIS carbons. Linearization is easy.
