PK and matte paper

2012-09-16 by Myron Gochnauer

Is there any reason why I should not use Photo Black as one of the blacks for printing on matte paper?

My setup:

Epson 4880
MIS K3 equivalent inks
Eboni black in MK/PK slot
PK (photo black) in the Y slot
QTR 2.72 (Mac)

I have created and linearized a profile that uses MK. PK, LK and LLK. So far it *looks* okay to me.

Are there problems I should look for, or longterm issues?

I'm hoping to use PK (in Y position), LK and LLK for glossy papers. Since PK is there, I thought I would add it to the mix for matte paper. It is darker than LK but lighter than MK.

Am I correct in assuming that both MIS and Epson MK, PK, LK and LLK are all pure carbon-pigment inks?

Myron
