I have found the QTR Claria/1400 prints with the OEM inkset OK for cards
(see http://www.paulroark.com/BW-Info/1400-Claria-BW.pdf), but I've also
found that with some of my files with smooth, plain skies, the combo does
not do as even a job on the skies as I'd like.  So, I switch some of the
colors and go for the 2K2LK approach (see
http://www.paulroark.com/BW-Info/1400-Claria-Noritsu-2K2LK.pdf).  It takes
2 cleaning cycles to get rid of the previous ink.

I do not recommend any other dye at this point.  Not that none are any
good, but so  far the Claria/Noritsu dyes are the only ones I've seen that
have acceptably color constancy and lack of metamerism for B&W.

For color + B&W, a new or used K3 printer might be an option to consider
also.
