The MIS cartridges didnt work in my 1430 either. I bought 3rd party refillable cartridges from ebay (Hong Kong). I have read a suggestion that there are different cartridges required depending on where in the world you got your printer but I dont know if it is true. I think (but as I am not at home, I cant check) that 1430 cartridges can be labled 79 or 81 and the MIS ones are 79's. My printer worked with the 81 series cartridges Cheers Michael
