RE: [Digital BW] Epson 1430 Non-OEM Cartridge Issues - Resolution

2013-01-23 by Tom Maugham

Well I don't know about that. I just received a 1430 to replace my 1400 and
my generic non-OEM 1400 carts with the generic non-OEM chips work just fine.

Subject: [Digital BW] Epson 1430 Non-OEM Cartridge Issues - Resolution

I spoke with MIS tech support today and they stated that any of the
cartridges for the Epson 1400 made before the 1430 was released will not
work in the 1430. (That's me.) Apparently, after the 1430 was released,
Epson made some kind of a change in the interface and the third party chips
had to be modified. Upgrade chips are not being offered. A new set of six
cartridge is $30, so this is not a big deal, just kind of a hassle.

I'll use the 1430 for color printing, both Epson and MIS inks, and dedicate
the 1400 to B&W printing using the old MIS cartridges, which I have loaded
for C-6, UT14 and LK2LK.

As for mixing Epson and MIS cartridges in the 1430, I don't know if this is
really an issue. I have certainly mixed them in the 1400. I did it just last
week when I ran out of Epson black and threw in the MIS black to finish a
project I was working on. Not a whimper from the 1400, it just kept on
going.
