Re: CIS for 1400

With refillable desktop carts, you can run all of the five different Piezography ink sets in one printer using only one set of pre-made curves, or go between color and Piezography in one printer. Replacing the cart set triggers the auto clean and you're ready to print. However, it is also more convenient to fill 2 or 3 sets of carts with one ink set, print and replace each cart with another as they empty and then refill them all later at your convenience and reset the chips.

Chinese made CISS systems really vary in quality. If you do decide to CISS, stay away from vinyl ink lines. Try to buy CISS systems that use Tygon or PP tubing. That is a challenge today.

When I got my first 1400 I put an Inkjet Mall CIS on it, and had nothing but trouble. I guess the chips change everything. I would have kept my 1160s, but there weren't drivers for them as the Mac Oses advanced. I thought it was the 1400 itself that was problematic, but it turned out to be the CIS. It appears now that IJM has given up on CIS for that printer. My problem today with the printer is that I get so few pages from cart refills. Seems like I refill, print a few text pages- not even images- and that's it. Carts empty. I long for the days when I could just top off bottles and print as much as I wanted. Is that still possible? Is there anyone making a reliable CIS for the 1400? I see where MIS has one- has anyone had good luck with it?
