Re: Trifecta winner

Hi Barry,

Has Weink discontinued the CIS for the 1520 or did you just decide not to get
it?

Before you chuck the 1520, you might want to try the Piezo software with MIS
FS inks. That might eliminate the clogging issues but not paper handling or
banding. Using MIS VM inks with Paul Roark's free curves and the Epson
driver should solve clogging and banding. I think the only cure for poor
paper handling is switching papers to lighter weight versions.

>>This is my first post of what I'm sure will be many. I dedicated a

new 1520 to BW piezography system to try it out. No CIS, as I have

found none for the 1520. I've had my share of clogs, paper feed

issues, banding, etc. with the Cone system. When the prints come out

perfect, however, they are truly spectacular. Here's the thing; I'd

like advise on the Trifecta Winner, the best combination of printer,

CIS, and ink set for dedicated BW printing. My budget is $1500. I

prefer cooler tones, and don't need any more than 13" width. I'm also

up for any advise on the 1520, but my gut reaction, after dealer with

the beast, is to sell it off and go with a 1280. I've already got the

piezo s/w, and understand from posts here that the Cone s/w will work

with other ink sets. Thanks in advance guys and gals. >>
