Not wanting to be pedantic, but I can't see any realistic way for a cartridge to become blocked - the feed hole and vent holes are large (don't be offended, but you don't have the cartridge vent hole sealed, right?). You've likely got crusted-over nozzles or blocked feed tubes. These have to be worked very differently than replacing what I would think of as a blocked cartridge. I've found that if I go for more than a week or so without printing something in my 1400, I have to run 3+ cleaning cycles to get a good nozzle test print. While I haven't ever had serious clogging in my 1400, I did spend considerable time cleaning up a 2200; it involved swabbing the nipple to which the ink cartridge connects with a cleaning solution (I used Jon Cone's version, which I like) and carefully feeding cleaning solution-soaked paper towels under the print head. This last thing is risky in terms of outright nozzle damage, leaving lint, etc. Good luck!
