One of the more successful of my experiments to relax the roll with the lowest stress on the coating and nothing ever touching it involved making like a plastic enclosure where the paper could be hung with an aluminum bar at the bottom of the paper. The sealed enclosure also had a wet towel in it to bring up the humidity. It worked rather well, but I'd rather not have to deal with this at all.
For now, I think I've found my solution in PremierArt 325 sheets.
