Sorry paul if i am being a numb nut but after reading your pdf, it says that the c6a is for all printers except the 1400 and 1800. Should i be buying that instead of the c6b?

is the R2400 a 1.5 picoliter printer?

I use C6B for all but Arches and 1.5 pl printers. Edwal LFN (the additional ingredient in B) is an excellent cleaner. Usually 2 head cleanings purges the old inks. Do nozzle checks.

In addition to cleaning fluid in the carts, you might want to rinse off the parking pad with some cleaning fluid. When you go to change the inks, pull the plug. That will give you access to the parking pad.

If the heads are giving a good nozzle check now, replacing the inks with cleaning fluid should preserve the printer head just fine.

I use my generic ink base C6b -- see page 5 of http://www.paulroark.com/BW-Info/Ink-Mixing.pdf . MIS sells it premixed for $7/pint -- http://www.inksupply.com/roarkslab.cfm . (I have no financial connection to MIS.)

Bagging the printer would probably be a good idea. No heroics are really needed once the clear base is in there. The printer should be fine for many months.

I just got an Epson r2400 that I am going to keep as a spare to replace my 2200 in vase it dies.

I am planning on inserting some refillable cartridges inside and filling them with cleaning fluid.

If I do a few head cleans with the product inside, would the printer be good when I start it again a few months later? I am concerned that the pads being full of ink may clog the printer or should I move the heads away from the pads.

I will also be putting the printer in a closed bag to remove the air.

If that is a feasible idea, what kind of fluid should I put in the cartridges?
