I print B&W images on my 2000P using the "black ink only" setting. I
love the results on premium luster paper. And ... no color crossovers.

Subject: [Digital BW] Colour Casting - MIS inks and Photoshop Pro the
only soloution ?
Hello,
I am a beginner who has hit the steep learning curve at a run but
find myself severely winded at the moment and could do with a few
kind words from someone more informed.
I rather naively thought I might be able to print off good reliable
black and white photos to my Epson 895 (seems to be a UK model but
uses the same cartridges as the 890) but have been hit by the
infamous colour casting problem. I have taken the photos with a
digital camera and then converted them to black and white using
Microsoft Picture It (please stop laughing). When I printed some of
the darker shots they showed what I then thought was green shading
but which I now know is colour casting or crossover which is revealed
under different lights. Under the natural light this shows up green
and under incandescent light you can get magenta (metamerism). One of
the biggest problems I have had is coping with the volume of new
jargon I have had to wade through.
Looking through the internet and this group the solution seems to
come back to Using the grayscale inks in combination with the
Photoshop Pro software with an appropriate curve ( I think it is
Curve that was mentioned on the www.inksupply.com website, I am a
little confused as I only started learning this yesterday) for your
printer. Is this true? Are n't there any better ICM profiles out
there to tone down the green influences?
I would appreciate any words of advice please.
Thank you
Patrick Brosnan
