I made the casual and not totally accurate statement that the 1100 with the MIS glossy carbons never clogs. Let me be more specific. It's been so reliable that after being gone from Sept. 25 to Oct. 4, where the temperatures got high and the humidity was said to be as low as 7% (I have trouble believing this), I didn't even bother to do a nozzle check when I returned. I just turned it on and it printed fine. I now did a nozzle check, and it's perfect. That's close enough to "never clogs" for me.
I do so much plain paper printing (much of it for my wife) that a case of it sits just outside my office. This Epson WorkForce printer has been a real workhorse. One of the most annoying things about it is that with text (dual K heads, in effect) it prints so fast that it tends to shoot the papers onto the floor. (I put a doubled over piece of tape at the end of the tray to stop this.) With images and lighter tones it's slower than the 1430. It is specialized but flexible enough to do quite a good job with photos, but not quite as good with images as the hextone printers.
