As you can see from the URL, they are a German company (although I don't know who actually does the programming for them).  I had never heard of them until a few months ago. 



BW project #5 is the current version, and runs as a stand-alone or PS plugin for both Mac and Windows. I have tried unsuccessfully to update the raw image handling by.  Franzis does not have a common set of raw conversion routines that could be called by all of its products. As a result, different products may support different cameras, and they apparently do not issue maintenance updates for new cameras. (I had to move from BW#4 to BW#5 to get Fuji X-Pro2 file support!) That's just sloppy, thoughtless program design, even though MBAs may find value in it.



A large numbers of presets ("defaults") and adjustable filters (which work a bit like layers) combine with non-Photoshop-standard language to make the learning curve fairly steep (although it is not hard to accomplish the basics once you discover that colour response during conversion is found hidden in the "White & Black correction" filter).



A review from a power-user would be most welcome.  In fact, I'd settle for anything from anyone.
