I think the blue toner shows up OK in the nozzle check. Below (but it might be deleted on the forum) and at http://www.paulroark.com/BW-Info/GCVT-9800-nozzle-chk.jpg I have put a scan of a nozzle check of my 9800 that has the Glossy Carbon Variable Tone inkset in it.
