RE: [Digital BW] Panoramic Paper? UK / Euro Vox Pop

2002-03-16 by Nij

hi John,

Sorry to hijack your question for a moment! I know that you are not based in
the UK, but in the apparent absence of a supplier of roll-paper for
desktops, I have been researching the provision of such in the UK / Europe.
In the process, I may have helped persuade the manufacturer to try and get
involvement from the mill... but this will take months to come on-line (if
at all) and so I am left to do this myself...

I have found a company that will slit / rewind the rolls for me, but before
I go ahead and invest a reasonable amount of money, it would be helpful for
me if any UK / Euro readers could let me know if they have any preferences
in particular for roll size. My assumptions so far have been that 13", 17"
and 10" (leftover) rolls would be preferable sizes, and that Photo Rag
188gsm would be a good paper to concentrate on at first.

So I would greatly appreciate any feedback (offlist would be great, and if
appropriate, i will echo the results back to the group) if you are
interested in the provision of such rolls, your ideal choice of paper, or
perhaps you have experience of using such rolls. One risk I perceive is that
these would need to be put onto 2" cores for closer compatability with Epson
desktop roll-holders, but I worry that this may result in too tight a curl
on the paper.

Any feedback or comments to nigel@... please... that's be great!

Best regards, and have a quiet, yahoo-free weekend ;)
