(Second effort -- I had the wrong URL last time.) In the Files section of this forum there is now a scan of a 21-step test file printed with the VM-Neutral-Sepia inkset (also known as VM-Sepia-Neutral or VM-Sepia inkset, depending on one's point of view). This was done on the 3000 and shows how neutral a print one can make with this inkset. The curve was a modified VM-Warm curve that is available for the 3000-PC. The image includes X-Rite densitometry readings that show the tone as well as the density. The CMY values are written on the test strip. Basically the test strip is neutral (C=M=Y) in the midtones. It rolls smoothly up to the paper color (EAM 0.02 cool) in the highlights and to the black ink tone (0.03 warm) below 75%. To see the test image, go to the files section at: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint/files/ Then follow the links to > Inksets, reviews and techniques > MIS Variable Mix > MIS VM Neutral-Sepia, which is where the Jpeg is. The image is called "VM-Neutral-Sepia-Tone-Density.jpg." (We need an easy way to have a direct link here. Is there a way around the wrapping URL problem? The full URL is: <http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint/files/Inksets%2C %20reviews%20and%20techniques/MIS%20Variable%20Mix/MIS%20VM%20Neutral-Sepia/ VM-Neutral-Sepia-Tone-Density.jpg> ) So, with that inkset, you can have this very neutral tone on one end of the scale, and the sepia tone that is sampled on me webpage also.
