David at nomorecarts does not like the idea of selling only the read only chips, and anyway, I don't plan on going into the CIS building buisness. Although there are rumors that in future the chips will be sold separately, I'm not counting on it. What I'm trying to get assembled is a "designer CIS" for my own 1280. There are parts from the MIS and We-Ink site that are very good ideas that the nomorecarts CIS does not incorporate. I believe with my mechanical background I can easily take the best of three or more systems and put them into a super CIS. I don't absolutely need the read only chips- I will have a way to reset the chips in a month or two that is not much sweat and doesn't use the rather limping Russian software. The read only chips will still be the most convient solution. The point of my post is if anyone has a broken down nomorecarts CIS for 1270, 1280, or 1290 they are getting rid of, and they want to sell the chips, contact me offline. I hope this doesn't take too many resellers aback, I'm not going to remarket my one unit, and I'd be buying a spent, previously bought by someone else CIS. I don't mind buying a nomorecarts CIS, but it simply doesn't have everything I would like to see in my dream CIS. Jim H.
