Use Enhanced Black ink from media street as your black ink. Do a print head alignment, and a few nozzle cleans and see if you can see every single line in a nozzle check. Sounds like a printer problem. I never get posterization in the dark tones. And check your images under extreme magnification to see if there are any artifacts there, possibly from your scanner.
