Folks, I've been monitoring this list for months now (I hate the yahoo interface)in digest form and have learned a great deal. I now have 2 printers running MIS color and B&W VM and I'm producing prints that my designer cohorts go crazy over. Thanks everybody! I felt compelled to comment about the discussion about density, dmax, whatever. It really doesn't matter. Certainly we have to have a level of understanting about the technology necessary to realize our vision of the world, but I've seen this thousands of times over the years. People loose themselves in the process and ignore the end result....images. Some are taken by the process and never get beyond it, but it all comes down to Why are we doing this? What is the point? What do we want as a result? BIG scarey questions for all. Easier to talk about step wedges and the stuff used to create them. I play classical guitar (well try to as best as I can) and the other day I found myself downloading music. I have enough books with music to play to last me a lifetime and then some, yet there I was. I realized that I was doing this to avoid the bigger issue...advancing my playing ability which is a far more difficult endeavor. Does any of this sound familiar? Take a picture. Make a print. Ask yourself why. Do it again. Best, Steve Roberts
