Thank You from New User

2002-04-16 by Robert Rose

As a new digital B&W user I wanted to thank everyone, and especially
Paul Roark, for answering questions and helping new users.

Based on comments I read here, I convinced my brother-in-law to give me
his unused Epson 1200, I ordered the MIS VM ink set, and after a brief
fight with a clogged black print head started printing using the Roark
workflow.

The results on Epson Archival Matte were beautiful, and then I tried
Epson Watercolor, using the Roark neutral curves. The results look very
much like the Archival Matte.

I may try experimenting with other papers, but the results on Epson
Watercolor paper are sufficiently great that I will probably stick with
that for now (since I have a supply!). The Epson Watercolor paper also
makes a nice deckled edge that doesn't work as well on the Archival
Matte. (I fold the edge, wet it, and tear along the fold.)

Thanks,
Robert Rose
