I tried using Konica Impresa 50, the finest grain negative color film.
While the flexibility of that approach was impressive, I went back to
shooting B&W film. I found that when trying to do red filtration in the
computer, the grain of the color negative film became rather pronounced.

It appears that color film relies on all it's emulsions to render its fine
grain. When only one is used, the grain is closer to a B&W film with much
higher speed.
