Thanks for the info. The hard edge selections is something I've used, but it only works (for me) in certain types of images. I think I'll try my hand at combining Paul's curves by applying cool in the shadows and warm in the highlights and perhaps neutral in the midtones. If I get reasonable results, I'll post them.
