So, of course, that also means I have not tweaked the curves to print the sepia or done a comparison of the 870 to the 1160 with that inkset. I intend to load the vm-sepia into the 870 within a day or so. As to the quality of the printers otherwise, the 870 is better than the old 1160. It's both sharper and smoother. But, I really don't like the chips or messing with 2 more inks. I'm going to have my 1160 fixed so that I can go back to that machine for working on Piezo - compatible inks (including a dye-based inkset for glossies and for digital negatives) and inks for the 3000. But, for ultimate quality, and if you are going to use a CIS/CFS and stick to one inkset, the modern hextone printers really are better. >Do you also use the EAM paper on the 1160? Yes.
