small gamut or MIS variable tone - so many choices ....

2001-08-27 by polski@spray.se

I would like to start with BW inkjet printing , and really didn`t like
the tone of piezography ( prints I´ve been shown seemed kind of
greenish - this is probably just my own lack of taste ;-))

There is very little input here about Lysons Small Gamut inks ..
I like the the color steering thing but I´m unsecure about the dot
and tonal range ,,,

MIS variable seems promising , but I`m not sure
if pigment based ink will give me deep blacks while
printed on glossy paper ...
And I´m bit nervous while reading some posts that MIS
( I don`t know if this concerns also variable ink ) is even
"greener" then Piezo .
Mis variable cannot move along magenta - green axis ...

I like MIS price and it is available ( i think ) for my spare printers
( EX and 1200 ) .
Shall I start with it or should I go for SmallGamut with
a new 1160 ?
I would be greatfull for some suggestions .
Longevity is of lesser concern for me then tonal range .
( I work mostly with commecial/editorial stuff )
