I tried both (gamma2.2>sRGB) and (gamma2.2>Adobe1998) out of curiousity. then tried my CMYK conversion, yes, the same, the median and std dev are different (but so very slightly). in my cmyk convert, the mean value differences from PS6 to PS7 I'm getting are 133.36 vs 133.27 and standard deviation value differences are 95.15 vs 95.03 You are getting more histo variance from PS6 to PS7 converting to sRGB than to Adobe1998. I can't find any info on this in the photoshop forum at adobe, curious thing... should pose a question there perhaps. Perhaps the same is true of the PS5.5 to PS6 change, that the conversions are mapped better with each upgrade. Two other points, this variance occurs using any intent, and it occurs when doing an RGB to RGB conversion as well. I don't see how this is causing such a drastic change in your print though, I believe it is a different issue.
