My goal, however, was to press the 3000 into service.  For that old
workhorse, I think the Cone driver might be the only way to get adequate

Exactly -- that is why I'm suddenly re-interested in digital internegatives.
(I went the imagesetter route, among others, and decided I never want to
work with another service bureau, especially now that I'm in the relative
sticks of Solvang.)

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
