If you join an "interest group" list, you will get e-mails from all who
are active participants on that list.

Its as if you have picked up the phone
and there are already 50 or 100 or 500 people talking
about things of interest to them...in this case
digital black and white printing.

And...

You have spoken 2 or 3 times
(to the 500 people already talking)
saying:

"Stop talking - I didn't speak to you".

You have 2 choices:

1. Hang up the phone
2. Listen in for a while and see if topics of interest occur to you.

Incidently, there are probably hundreds of lists like
this one - -  related to photography alone - - each with its own
focus and flavor. The lists are excellent ways to learn about
things that others already know...

but by definition, you get conversations
that are not of immediate interest, that you may have heard before,
or that you don't understand...
