Something possessed me to try out a new paper in my workflow, in this case Sommerset Velvet. None of the local photography stores carried it so I decided to cut my own from larger sheets available at a traditional art store. I know from previous posts that people are using EAM (my favored paper) for proofing and Sommerset Velvet for production prints. Are the curves THAT different for the papers? I have ended up with flat, blotchy, and bizarre-cold hued prints, even though the VM curve was warm. Am I missing something obvious here about the handling of Sommerset Velvet? Is there something special about the stock marketed towards digital printing? Sorry if this topic has been covered previously...I could not find the answers in a quick search of the archives.
