I have been using a G4 and a 22" Apple Cinema Display for B&W digital 
image processing for nearly a year now and I am extremely pleased with it.  I 
also have another G4 dual processor and two LaCie 22" monitors.  Between 
the two setups, I find that I use the Cinema Display most of the time for digital 
black and white photography.

You might also want to consider the new iMac with a 17" flat panel display 
that was announced today.  It has a wide aspect ratio like the 22" display.  
Based on my experience, I'm sure you would be more than pleased with 
either setup.
