Tim, Heath Robinson was a cartoonist who drew weird and wonderful contraptions and machines - the best parallel I can think of in film would be the 'mad scientist father' in <ahem> Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (!!!) or I'm sure that Laurel and Hardy or some of the old silent 'slapstick / Charlie Chaplin' movies would have had equivalents. The kind of thing where someone or something pedals a bike that turn a cog that drives a shaft that drives an arm that moves a grabber that picks up an egg that drops egg down a slide that is caught in a pan that is held by an arm... you get the pictuire I'm sure. Another typical example would be the 'kick you out of bed in the morning machine'! :) Hence, in the UK, 'Heath Robinson' means 'hacked together' or perhaps 'over-engineered' or perhaps 'over-engineered, but with backwards-technology'! I'm still bearing your idea in mind... Nothing is quick at my end at the moment :) I think even light is slowing down here... I can prove it! It's getting lighter much later in the mornings than it did just two weeks ago :) Nij -----Original Message----- From: Tim Spragens [mailto:t.spragens@...] Sent: 31 July 2001 19:32 To: DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com Subject: [Digital BW] RE: Panarama Paper was Re: hi everyone Doesn't seem like it would be too hard to rig, without getting too complicated. Would depend on the space and what you can salvage - a couple of light stands and a roller on bearings would work, I'd think, with maybe a board or wire grid between that and the printer to avoid bad sags. I don't know "Heath-Robinson", you have the etymology? Tim > Is there an off-the-shelf product that does that?
