Although I rarely have PS crashing problems on my PC (especially since
upgrading to XP) I looked for that plug-in file and could not find it
anywhere.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
