Digital BW, The Print

This question is a little off topic but so many of you are so knowledgable 
that I think someone can give me an informed answer.  I have a Microtek 
scanMaker 8700 that I want to take by car across country on some rather rough 
roads.  I have the box it came in and can repack it.  Do I need to do 
anything else to it so it arrives in working condition. I'd like to be able 
to use it at that location and replace it with a film scanner at home.
